Workshop This Saturday

Don’t forget our VOICE IN ACTION workshop with performance artist Jan Fisher this Saturday

July 24, 10am – 4pm, Old Library, Whangarei

All are welcome!

This workshop is designed to help writers become performers and organised specifically with anyone in mind who needs a little encouragement to stand up on July 29 at Poetry Night and recite their poetry.  We’ll begin with exercises for Body and Voice, then work on Breath, focus on Consonants and Vowels, and even throw in a little Shakespeare. The second half of the day will be dedicated to poets working on presentation of their own works.

Jan Fisher

We are pleased to have Jan Fisher leading this workshop. Jan is a professionally trained actor who has worked in film, television, and in both professional and community theatre for over three decades. She has a special interest in voice and movement and was the tutor for voice at the Performing Arts Course at North Tec from 2001-2007. She is also a trained teacher and uses her theatre and teaching skills in directing whole school productions for Whangarei primary schools and the Northland Youth theatre.  Jan’s love of acting has sustained her for as long as she can remember and this year she has appeared in The Pohutukawa Company’s production of ‘The Reindeer Monologues’ and Bogwood’s ‘The 53rd Victim’ which was produced and directed by her partner, Kelly Johnson. Jan’s most recent appearances on television have been in Shortland Street and Outrageous Fortune and she will soon appear as Mrs Hobbs in a new series titled ‘This is not my Life’.  Jan and Kelly live in Whangarei with their three children, Buster, Tomasin and Jasmin.

Fee: $10. Please contact us at npdnorthland@gmail.com to confirm your attendance, as places are limited!
